About Department

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in the year 1997-98 to meet the requirements of the emerging industry/discipline. The department offers B.Tech, M.Tech (DSCE) Programs. The ECE department B.Tech program has been accredited thrice by NBA and PG programs M.Tech (DSCE) also accredited by NBA. JNTU has recognized the ECE department as Research Center for Ph.D Programs. ECE department laboratories are well developed with state of the art facility to impart quality education and support research activities.

Programme Description

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms of the engineering practice.
  9. Individual and teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

PEO – I. To apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to find the solution of complex engineering problems concerning societal, health, safety, cultural and environmental issues.

PEO – II. Empowering graduates to exhibit proficiency in core areas through evolving technologies in electronics and communication engineering and to identify, analyze, design, and conduct experiments for innovative solutions.

PEO – III. Facilitating graduates to achieve academic excellence and pursue R&D in multi-disciplinary domains leading to design of novel products using modern tools and to promote skills in project management, entrepreneurship and IPR.

PEO- IV. Developing human values, and professional ethics, improving the effective communication skills, teamwork, leadership qualities, and life-long learning.

Identify, formulate, and suggest viable solutions for real time problems in the field of IOT.

PSO2: Analyze and design VLSI subsystems leading to ASICs by using the state-of-art technologies and tools.

PSO3: Design and Implement solutions as a professional to counter technological challenges related to Signal Processing and Communications.

Dr SPV SubbaRao joined in ECE department in 2000 His services at Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology as an academician for more than 20 years at various levels and as Head of ECE Dept for more than 5 years, He is instrumental in establishing laboratories with state of art technologies and improving the research and consultancy, students industry certifications in the Department. He has published 5 patents and completed consultancy projects of worth 15.8 lakhs and has received grants of worth Rs 12.8 lakhs from AICTE under MODROBs and FDP.

Dr.SPV. Subba Rao is graduated in B. Tech (ECE) from RGMCET JNTU University Hyderabad in June 2000..He has completed M. Tech in Communications and Signal Processing in 2005 from GPREC, SK University Kurnool and Ph.D with specialization in Wireless Communication from JNTUH, Hyderabad in 2014. He has more than 21 years of teaching experience and 10 years of research experience. His area of interest are Wireless Communications, Wireless Multi Media Networks, Real Time Signal Processing, 5G Communications and Design of Pay loads for Micro Satellites. He has 22 SCI and Scopus Indexed and he has published 5 Patents and he has done consultancy projects of worth 15.8 lakhs from RCI DRDO, Murata Singapore ltd and NexGen IT Solutions and he has received grants of Rs.12.8 Lakhs from AICTE under MODROBS scheme and also organizing FDP on Wireless Sensor Networks. He has published 5 Patents and 6 Books. He is IEEE member and Reviewer of IEEE Sensor Journal and also editorial Board member of 2 Journals. He has received Young Researcher Award from JNTU Kakinada during 2020 and NPTEL Discipline star award from IIT Madras during 2020.

The department has grown to almost 75 faculty members, 27 faculty are holding Ph.D, who provide leadership and expertise in several areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Equally, the faculty are encouraged to participate in the faculty development programmes conducted in the other premiere institutes to enhance their knowledge and technical skills. I am extremely happy to mention that the faculty and students of ECE department are involved in the innovation and research.
