The Open Session of The LIT Club at SNIST marked an exciting and interactive beginning, setting the stage for a year filled with creativity, intellectual discourse, and literary exploration. This inaugural event introduced the club’s vision, mission, and activities, while engaging attendees in innovative literary games and discussions to spark their enthusiasm for literature and communication.
The session began with a warm welcome, followed by an introduction to The LIT Club’s objectives, emphasizing its role in fostering literary appreciation, enhancing communication skills, and creating a platform for self-expression. Attendees were acquainted with the club’s leadership, upcoming initiatives, and the diverse range of literary activities planned for the tenure.
To make the event interactive and enjoyable, we incorporated engaging literary activities, including:
• Guess the Phrase – A fun and fast-paced game where participants deciphered popular literary quotes and phrases, testing their knowledge and creativity.
• Screen & Storytelling – Short clips from popular series were shown, prompting attendees to analyze storytelling techniques, character development, and underlying themes.
• Just a Minute (JAM) – A lively impromptu speaking challenge where participants spoke on given topics without hesitation, repetition, or deviation, sharpening their quick-thinking and public speaking skills.
• Story-Building Challenge – A collaborative exercise where attendees constructed an imaginative narrative, showcasing their creativity and teamwork.
The session concluded with an open discussion, where students shared their expectations, ideas, and literary interests, helping shape the club’s future endeavors. Sreevision 2023 – LIT Club Events Overview
As part of Sreevision 2023, the LIT Club organized four engaging events—Essay Writing, Devil’s Advocate, Trivia, and the Debate Symposium—each designed to cultivate writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills among students. These events aimed not only to enhance public speaking abilities and overcome stage fright but also to encourage intellectual curiosity and articulate self-expression. The primary audience comprised students from the first to third years, providing them with a dynamic platform to showcase their talents and engage in thought-provoking discussions.
1. Essay Writing
This event encouraged participants to unleash their creativity by exploring diverse literary themes such as fantasy, fallacy, comedy, tragedy, and proxy. Each participant was presented with a scenario linked to their chosen theme, challenging them to craft compelling essays that demonstrated originality, critical analysis, and depth of thought. The result was an impressive collection of thought-provoking and imaginative compositions.
2. Devil’s Advocate
Designed to push intellectual boundaries, Devil’s Advocate required participants to defend controversial or unconventional viewpoints, even if they contradicted popular beliefs. Given a societal issue or norm, participants were tasked with challenging preconceived notions and presenting well-reasoned arguments to persuade the jury and fellow contestants. The event fostered an environment of open-minded debate, critical analysis, and persuasive rhetoric, allowing participants to think beyond biases and engage in nuanced discussions.
3. Trivia
A lively and immersive experience, the Trivia Challenge transported participants into the realms of Anime, K-Dramas, K-Pop, Marvel, Bollywood, and Harry Potter. With carefully curated questions spanning multiple fandoms, the event tested participants’ knowledge and passion for these iconic genres, making it a thrilling and highly engaging competition.
4. Debate Symposium
Centered around the legalization of same-sex marriage, this debate brought together two opposing teams—ruling and opposition parties—who engaged in a structured and compelling exchange of arguments. The event stimulated constructive discourse, encouraging participants to articulate well-founded perspectives, challenge societal viewpoints, and develop a deeper understanding of legal, ethical, and cultural dimensions surrounding the topic.

As part of Adastra 2023, the LIT Club orchestrated two captivating events—Literary Olympics and Murder Mystery—designed to engage participants in interactive, intellectually stimulating challenges. These events combined elements of creativity, quick thinking, and problem-solving, making them standout attractions of the fest.
1. Literary Olympics
A vibrant and fast-paced competition, Literary Olympics featured multiple engaging literary challenges, encouraging participants to showcase their linguistic and interpretative skills through:
• Guess the Phrase – A word-based challenge where participants decoded famous literary quotes and expressions.
• Pictionary – A visual storytelling round where players sketched book titles, literary themes, or characters while their teammates guessed the answers.
• Rapid-Fire Trivia – A knowledge test spanning classic and contemporary literature, mythology, and pop culture references.
• Story Continuation – A creative exercise where participants built upon a given opening line, crafting an engaging narrative on the spot.
The Literary Olympics fostered teamwork, creativity, and a love for literature, offering an engaging and competitive experience.
2. Murder Mystery – A Film Crew in Peril
This immersive, role-playing mystery transported participants into the intriguing world of a film crew caught in a web of deception, betrayal, and murder. Each participant assumed a unique role—director, actor, cinematographer, scriptwriter, or producer—as they worked together to unravel the case and identify the murderer among them.
The event unfolded with:
• A chilling backstory, setting the stage for suspense.
• Scattered clues, conflicting alibis, and red herrings that challenged participants’ deductive reasoning.
• Interrogations, alliances, and twists, keeping players engaged as they pieced together the mystery.
The thrill of live role-playing and investigative problem-solving made this event an unforgettable experience, testing participants’ analytical skills, teamwork, and attention to detail.

As the Deputy Documentation Head of the Literature and Liberal Arts Club 2023-2024, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing how this club transforms students into confident communicators, critical thinkers, and creative minds. It is more than just a space for literature lovers—it’s a hub for dialogue, expression, and exploration.
This year, we pushed the boundaries of creativity with events like the Literary Olympics, where trivia enthusiasts battled over Marvel, anime, Harry Potter, and pop culture. Devil’s Advocate challenged participants to defend the indefensible, sharpening their argumentation skills. And our thrilling Murder Mystery event had students stepping into the roles of detectives and suspects, solving intricate narratives with wit and strategy. Each event was designed to spark curiosity, foster discussion, and encourage students to think beyond the ordinary.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our mentors and guides. Their encouragement and insights helped us bring these ideas to life, creating unforgettable experiences for everyone involved.
