Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation - Ngo

Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation (Reg No. 302/2016) is a student run NGO established in 2015 under the Societies Registrations Act, 2001 with a mission to empower people to fight Cancer through awareness, early detection and patient support.

Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation club was formed on 15th February 2015. It drew inspiration from Shravani, a 9-year-old girl affected by leukemia. The innocent,helpless face of the young girl belonging to a middle class family whose financial condition was not well and who hardly knew anything about what she’s going through has made a student of Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Ghatkesar to start this organization.

To create a society where no cancer patient is deprived of love, care, or medical amenities, and to become a significant service provider aiding millions of patients.

Mission

Our Mission is to empower people to fight cancer through awareness, early detection, patient support and provide many other services.

Major SCF Events:

  1. Free Cancer Screening Camps:

SCF organizes Free cancer screening camps in different places in association with MNJ Institute of Oncology & Research Center, Lakdikapool as early detection saves lives. The camp is mainly targeted for those women who are working at various levels as they might be lacking awareness due to their busy lifestyle.

Cancer remains one of the most significant health challenges worldwide, and early detection is vital for effective treatment and improved survival rates. In line with this objective, the Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation from Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) organizes the Cancer Screening Camps.

  1. Awareness Sessions:

Since lack of awareness is also a cause for the spreading of Cancer, SCF organizes awareness sessions. The session aimed to raise awareness about risk factors, symptoms, and the importance of regular screenings.

  1. Blood Donation Camp:

To fulfill the scarcity of blood requirements of MNJ Cancer hospital, SCF conducts Blood Donation camp in the campus every year.

The program aims to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives. To mobilize community participation and encourage individuals to become regular blood donors. To collect a sufficient quantity of blood units to meet the demand of free treatment for patients. To ensure the safety and well-being of donors through proper screening and healthcare facilities. To promote a culture of altruism and social responsibility among the populace.

4. Make a wish:

To spread smiles and hope amongst the kids suffering with cancer, SCF tries to a Make a wish campaign every year where we try and fulfill wishes of the kids in MNJ Cancer hospitals.

This initiative not only brought immense joy to the children but also provided a much-needed emotional boost to their families, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey. The event underscored the power of compassion, community support, and the significance of small acts of kindness in making a difference in the lives of those facing challenging circumstances.

 5. No Shave November:

No Shave November is a fund-raising event where we collect the money saved for their haircuts and beard shaving from the students and faculty.

The funds collected are used to fuel our other projects.

6. Cancer Awareness Walk:

Awareness Walk event participated by SCF which is usually a 2-5k Walk conducted in the most happening places of Hyderabad.

The main objective of the Cancer Awareness Walk was to promote early detection of cancer and educate the community about the risks, symptoms, and preventive measures related to the disease. By gathering a large group with banners and slogans, the event aimed to spread knowledge, reduce stigma, and empower individuals with information that could potentially save lives.

7. Stem Cell Donor Recruitment Drive:

The Stem Cell Donor Recruitment Drive was conducted to raise awareness about the importance of stem cell donation and to encourage eligible individuals to register as potential donors. The event aimed to expand the donor registry and provide hope for patients suffering from life-threatening blood disorders such as leukaemia, lymphoma, and other conditions requiring stem cell transplants. SCF has organized a Donor recruitment camps in association with Datri Foundation.

Awards Received :

  1. Award from Health Minister of Telangana Shri. T. Harish Rao:

Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation has received an award in 2022 from Health Minister of Telangana Shri. T. Harish Rao for the Highest Number of Blood Donations amongst all the educational institutions. There were 300 students and faculty blood donors from the institute.

Sreenidhi Cancer Foundation has received an award from Datri Foundation- Stem Cell registry in 2022 for highest registrations of stem cell donors amongst all educational institutions with a record holding number of 1000+ students and faculty donors.
